Financial Contribution
Our community living arrangement is founded on the principles of shared responsibility, active participation, and mutual support. Visitors at the village are requested contributing their time, skills, and resources, to create a vibrant and sustainable living environment that benefits current and future visitors.
However there are significant financial resources required to build, run and maintain the hub. To ensure a financially sustainable project, we have established a fair, clear, and transparent system that allows members to choose their level of engagement and financial contribution based on their individual circumstances and preferences. Any surplus generated through this contribution system will be allocated as a community fund on the open collective platform, which will be used for improvements, maintenance, repairs, and to fund community projects, events, and activities.
Financial Contributions:
Booking Deposit: A refundable booking deposit of 100 euros is required to secure your reservation and protect against last-minute cancellations. The deposit will be returned at the end of your stay, provided the space is left clean and there are no damages or outstanding financial contributions.
Base Fee: Each visitor is asked to contribute a base fee 10 euros per day to cover essential expenses such as energy, water, gas, internet, shared car use and taxes. This does not include accommodation.
Hourly Contributions : We expect all visitors to contribute to the collective at least 2 hours per day, choosing activities that align with their interests and abilities, while having the opportunity to connect with each other and to develop new skills. Visitors can contribute their time and skills in various ways, such as:
Hosting workshops or experiences
Assisting with cleaning, cooking, childcare, gardening, facilitation, emotional support, maintenance tasks etc …
Contributing to hosted projects or initiatives that maintain or grow the potential of Liminal Village and its Social Technology
Proposing and leading new community projects and initiatives (as approved by the stewards)
Note that participation to check-ins, circle meetings, workshops, experiences and social events is not generally considered as a contribution.
Accommodation Options:
We offer a wide range of accommodation options to suit different needs and preferences. Each accommodation option has an additional financial contribution (on top of the base fee) to help cover the costs of maintaining and improving our shared living space, and allowing members to make informed decisions about their stay.
Own tent or van: No additional contribution
Tent (up to 2 people, toilet up the hill): 10 euros per day for the tent
Caravan (up to 2 people, toilet up the hill): 15 euros per day for the caravan
Camper (with up to 4 people, toilet nearby inside the main house): 20 euros per day for the camper
Single room (shared toilet): 20 euros per day for the room
Double room (shared toilet): 40 euros per day for the room
Tiny house with double bed and private bathroom: 60 euros per day for the house
Food Commons:
We offer an optional food commons program, where members can choose to participate in shared meals and groceries. This program allows us to source high-quality, sustainable ingredients while fostering a sense of community around food. The cost of participating in the food commons is between 5-10 euros per day, depending on the agreed-upon meal plans and dietary preferences. Everyone in the food commons actively participates in a scheduled meal preparation plan, kitchen maintenance, groceries shopping and fair resource management.
Volunteers:
Visitors who wish to contribute more hours will receive discounts (up to 100%) on their financial contribution. If you need certainties on the discount, please get in touch with the hub stewards to make a set arrangement.
Flexibility and Adaptability:
Our community living arrangement is a dynamic and evolving process. As such, the framework is subject to amendments and adjustments based on the changing needs of the community. We encourage open communication and active participation in decision-making processes to ensure that our living arrangement remains fair, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of all members. Any changes to the model will be discussed and decided upon during general circle meetings, ensuring that all engaged members have a voice in the process.
At the same time, if you have special requests of needs, get in touch with the stewards or members of the community to arrange special “micro-agreements” with them.
